Two Ways

I must have seen you
facing south
while I stay west,
facing the eastern side
watching the sun
in its magical rise;
didn’t see it
disappearing,
taking its time
behind me.

I must have seen you
wandering away
in the darkness of a cave
while I stay put
at the foot of the hill;
I waited
for another day
watching shadows
dance and play.

I must have seen you
at the fork
finding your destination,
I looked behind
tracing my path to yours;
but you’re lost,
preoccupied,
not noticing
the way I took.

I must have seen
you walking away.
