The moon has shown its face this time tonight;
My heart sparked aglow like it always has
From such a long time ago, at first sight,
To this day, and it is still beating fast.
Does it know: my world darkens when it hides,
And its many phases define my mood?
Its constant pull affects my ocean tides,
We’re drawn to each other, it’s understood.
I am watching it closely when it’s near;
How satisfying to know it wants to stay.
I wonder if my song would reach its ear;
I’m writing and playing it anyway.
The moon is free; no one owns it, not I;
Yet I’m certain now this heart leaps that high.
